The embodiments herein generally relate to identification of a novel 19 amino-acid sequence, more particularly, relate to the a novel 19 amino-acid sequence in s6 kinase 1 is required for mediating its mtorc2-dependent activation. Description of the Related Art [002] The Mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) holds the center stage in regulating cell growth and proliferation. Whereas mTOR exists in structurally and functionally distinct complexes 1 (mTORC1) and 2 (mTORC2), nutrient-sensitive mTORC1 synchronizes the rate of protein translation with the cellular status of metabolism regulated by mTORC2. The cross-talk to establish this collaborative response between the two complexes remains unclear despite its compelling implications in conditions like cancer, diabetes, neurodegeneration, aging, etc. We have gathered evidence to prove that the signals from both mTOR complexes converge on S6Kinase 1 to highlight its role as a serious drug target of intervention against the above-mentioned diseases/conditions.
