Biotic stress has always been a great concern for agriculture. Among various biotic stresses, 60 is contributed by the fungal diseases alone. Millions of dollars are being invested on pesticides to control them. However, due the continuous use of these pesticides it has resulted in various on-field and off-field harmful effects that include various health issues. The other major concern is the management of agricultural waste for which government of India has recently launched a plan “Waste to Wealth―. As per the recent report of Times of India, 500 million tonnes of crop residue is generated in India every year, and one fifth of the total stubble generated is burnt which majorly contributes to environmental pollution. Here we propose a solution which can tackle both these concerns, in a very scientific and eco-friendly manner. From past more than one year, our group is extensively working in developing nano-fungicides from agricultural wastes through green nanotechnology. The exploitation of green nanotechnology has already been in demand to develop environmental safe products. The nano-fungicides developed will be organic, environmentally safe, free from health hazards, of broad spectrum nature, free from social cost, cheap, so that even low income farmers can afford a solution for their farm-related problems. We have successfully established a proof of concept in the form of organic Nanofungicides utilizing the agricultural wastes and validated it in-vitro against couple of fungi and the in-vivo validation is on-going.
