The invention discloses a technique for generating a three-dimensional (3D) template of a particular volume of an object under examination. The method comprising receiving at least two pre-calibrated images i. e. a first and a second 2D image of the object and scaling the second 2D image based on the first 2D image. The method comprises plotting one closed contour on the first 2D image and the scaled second 2D image respectively, to mark a region indicative of the particular volume of the object and logically cropping the region marked by the closed contour in the first 2D image and the scaled second 2D image to generate a first and second cropped 2D images respectively. Furthermore, the method comprises converting the first and second cropped 2D images into a first and a second cropped binary 2D images respectively. The method further comprises obtaining a precalibrated statistical 3D template of the same volume of the object and scaling the obtained pre-calibrated statistical 3D template using the first 2D image to generate a scaled precalibrated statistical 3D template. Moving ahead, the method comprises aligning the scaled pre-calibrated statistical 3D template from a sagittal view with the first cropped 2D image using the plotted closed contour to generate an aligned scaled pre-calibrated statistical 3D template. The method further describes performing logical AND operation between the aligned scaled pre-calibrated statistical 3D template and the first cropped binary 2D image one by one for each slice of the scaled pre-calibrated statistical 3D template to generate a modified statistical 3D template. After the modified statistical 3D template is generated, the method further comprises aligning the modified statistical volumetric template from a frontal view with the second cropped 2D image using the plotted closed contour to generate an aligned modified pre-calibrated statistical 3D template. Lastly, the method comprises performing logical AND operation between the aligned modified statistical 3D template and the second cropped binary 2D image, one by one for each slice, to generate the 3D template of the particular volume of the object.
