This proposal aims to develop a sustainable solution for infrastructure development by the recycling of tyres to extract the polymer and steel fibres for developing highly sustainable, low cost and fire resilient concrete. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) will be replaced with alkali-activated cements (AAC) made from metakaolin and industrial waste from power plants, with the potential to save up to 80% of CO2 emissions from the cement industry.
